- Firmly attaches to different rubber and plastic surfaces for a variety of uses
- Low-viscosity adhesive is easily applied from bottle
- Quick handling strength (within seconds) helps keep jobs moving quickly and smoothly
- Good shear strength for durability and longevity
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Plastic & Rubber Instant Adhesive PR40 is a low viscosity cyanoacrylate (instant adhesive) that is easily applied from the bottle. Once applied, PR40 bonds creates a quick, high strength, and close-fitting bond for plastic or rubber parts.
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Plastic & Rubber Instant Adhesive PR40 is a low viscosity instant adhesive with some gap filling capability. It will bond many common substrates and is formulated to give very good performance on difficult to bond substrates, such as EPDM and nylon.
Heavily plasticized PVC
Application is straightforward; just apply a small quantity of adhesive from the bottle to one or both substrates. A quick handling time is achieved in under a minute to help keep jobs moving quickly and smoothly, while a full cure is achieved in roughly 24 hours.
Plastic and Rubber Instant Adhesives
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Plastic and Rubber Instant Adhesives are designed to give exceptional performance on difficult-to-bond plastic and rubber substrates. These adhesives may be bonded to like substrates or in combination with metal or composite substrates. Superior performance is achieved on materials such as heavily plasticized PVC, EPDM, ABS, and Nylon.
What are Cyanoacrylate Adhesives?
Cyanoacrylate adhesives (instant adhesives) are single component, lower viscosity liquids that cure extremely quickly with just contact pressure and surface moisture. They adhere well, with thin bond lines to many plastics, metals and rubbers. With the use of primers they can also adhere to low surface energy (LSE) plastics and elastomers. They have lower flexibility, peel strength and impact resistance compared with other structural adhesives. Additionally, they are generally used for gasket bonding and smaller assemblies.
