3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Super Fast Instant Adhesive SF20 is a very low viscosity, super-fast curing instant adhesive. This product meets Meets CID A-A-3097, Type II, Class 1. The low viscosity helps produce a thin bond layer for fast and effective curing on a variety of substrates including leather, cork, plastic and rubber.
- Super-fast curing keeps projects moving forward and productivity high
- Flexible container to pinch a precise drop or squeeze for a steady bead
- Bonds to a variety of substrates – leather, cork, plastic and rubber
- Meets CID A-A-3097, Type II, Class 1
- Low viscosity helps produce thin bond layer for fast, effective curing
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Super Fast Instant Adhesive SF20 is designed to give exceptional performance on difficult to bond plastics and rubbers, acidic and/or contaminated surfaces such as: woods, leathers, cardboard and oily surfaces. As the name suggests, it can also be used in high speed production applications.
- Oily surfaces
What are Instant Adhesives?
Instant adhesives are Cyanoacrylate based formulas that are strong, fast-acting adhesives used in industrial and household applications. In general, they are an acrylic resin that rapidly polymerizes in the presence of water (specifically hydroxide ions), forming long, strong chains, joining the bonded surfaces together. Cyanoacrylates are sensitive to moisture and excess exposure to moisture may reduce its shelf life.
Because the presence of moisture causes the glue to set, exposure to normal levels of humidity in the air causes a thin skin to form within seconds, which greatly slows the reactive curing process. Because of this, the cyanoacrylate should be applied thinly to ensure that the reaction proceeds rapidly and a strong bond is formed within a reasonable time. Instant adhesives from 3M apply right from the container and rapidly reach handling strength at room temperature. A single drop per square inch can bond many plastics, rubber, metal and more with tensile strength up to 5,000 psi.
